Kardaviik Puts Factory Automation Among the Asteroids

Kardaviik drops you into an endless, procedurally generated voxel asteroid belt with one clear goal: harness energy, climb the Kardashev Scale, and help save Earth. It is a 3D factory automation game that mixes base building, resource extraction and logistics with omni-directional freedom and fully destructible blocks. The current build is an unlocked playtest and the developers invite players to join their Discord to share builds and feedback.

Build Anywhere, Think in Six Directions

Space changes the rules. In Kardaviik you are not limited to a flat plane. Omni-directional movement means you can build up, down, left, right, forward and back. Place blocks on any surface, carve into asteroids and sculpt bases that wrap around rocks or float in the void. Everything is voxel based and destructible, so your factories can evolve, expand or be demolished and redeployed.

Sandbox mode gives you instant access to the full catalogue of blocks and tools so you can prototype late-game designs right away. Blueprints let you capture sections of a build and carry that design with you as you push further into the belt. Cosmetic block shapes and textures let you personalize bases without touching the automation underneath.

Automation, Infrastructure and Scale

Kardaviik offers familiar automation primitives adapted for space. Expect transporter belts, pipes, inserters, splitters and chests to form the backbone of your factory. Upgrade those systems for higher throughput and larger capacity, and unlock construction and logistic bots to save time on repetitive tasks.

Dashboards let you monitor factory output and fine tune production, while unique recipes force you to balance inputs, energy and throughput. As you progress you can move from fuel based systems to electricity, unlocking faster builds and new machine types. The dev roadmap teases higher tier energy tech including improved solar and eventual fusion systems, plus new logistical options such as item teleporters and a cargo ship.

Survive the Void

Resource management in Kardaviik is not just economic, it is also survival. Fuel is a life-saving resource while you explore, and gas clouds scattered across the belt offer risky refueling opportunities. Open space is unforgiving, so you will need to craft and place heaters to protect your machinery and crew from the cold. The team also plans to add enemies and combat, along with weapons that interact with blocks and player upgrades.

A Tech Tree That Lets You Choose Your Path

Progression is driven by a tech tree that unlocks new blocks, machines and player advancements. You can specialize towards faster logistics, heavier production, or advanced energy. The roadmap promises a huge expansion of the tech tree with more tech at every tier, plus late-game interactions designed to help you scale up toward the higher reaches of the Kardashev Scale.

Playtest Access and Community

An unlocked playtest is available now. The developers encourage players to join their Discord to report issues, share screenshots and post their builds. Playtesting helps shape which systems get polished next and which new features get priority, and the team is actively incorporating feedback into development.

About the Team

Kardaviik is being made by Vinyl Studios, a small Australian indie studio of four people. This is their first project together and their stated goal is to build a factory game that suits both casual players and hardcore optimization fans. The studio follows a strict no AI art policy, with all art digitally drawn by the team.

We would love for you to try the playtest and see how your factories handle the vacuum. Good luck ascending the Kardashev Scale.
