Edge of the Blade - War, Strategy, and Roguelite Stakes
Edge of the Blade puts you in the center of Cheonggu's ruin. This roguelite grand-strategy autobattler hands you the reins of one of three very different forces and asks you to steer a fractured land through spring into a climactic winter battle. Your tools are weekly war objectives, smart resource moves, and the ability to shape real-time encounters through deployment and hero skills.
Players will find a loop that mixes campaign-level choices with chaotic battlefield moments. Recruit talent in cities, reorganize at fortresses, and requisition food from farms to keep a fighting force moving. Every decision nudges the campaign forward and rewrites what confrontations you face.
Choose Your Side, Choose Your Story
Edge of the Blade centers its tension around three distinct factions, each with a clear identity and a personal goal.
- The Nine-Tailed Clan offers the angle of an exiled warlord reclaiming stolen honor and their city. Expect personal stakes and a revenge arc.
- The Oni present a brutal march of slaughter and destruction under a chieftain bent on escalation.
- The Khan's royal guard brings an organized, conquest-minded perspective aimed at smashing resistance and bringing Cheonggu to heel.
These are not cosmetic choices. Picking a faction shapes your objectives, your recruit pools, and how you might approach supply and aggression during the campaign.
The Weekly War Loop and Seasonal Push
The campaign unfolds across seasons. The war begins in spring and culminates in a final battle in winter. Each in-game week you set a war objective then work to complete it through movement, sieges, and resource management.
Cities, fortresses, and farms have different roles. Cities let you recruit talent. Fortresses are where you reorganize and prepare your army. Farms let you requisition food to maintain supply. Capture the right strongholds at the right time and you give yourself options; miss opportunities and your forces can starve or fragment.
The weekly cadence gives the game a clear rhythm. It encourages planning several moves ahead while keeping the pressure of an encroaching winter and an enemy that has goals of its own.
Real-Time Autobattles and Hard Choices
Battles in Edge of the Blade play out as real-time autobattler encounters. You deploy units within a supply budget and the principal tactical objective on the field is destroying the enemy supply depot. That single goal forces you to think about economy and positioning as much as raw strength.
Hero skills are a powerful tool to turn skirmishes. Use them at decisive moments to break enemy formations, cover a retreat, or seize an objective. Because combat is automatic beyond deployment and skill use, the strategic choices you make before and during a fight determine who holds the supply lines afterward.
Off the map, diplomacy and calamities arrive each week. Every envoy or disaster presents three choices: fight, join hands, or ignore. Those moments matter. They can reroute your whole campaign, grant useful allies, or saddle you with new headaches. In a roguelite structure, each run teaches you something new about how to bend the war to your will.
Edge of the Blade pairs high-level strategy with hands-on battlefield decisions. The fate of Cheonggu rests in how well you balance resources, alliances, and the timing of your assaults.
