Palefrost: Survive the Eternal Blizzard

The world has ended, but the storm did not. In Palefrost you pick through the ruins of Aurburg while an endless blizzard gnaws at your body and sanity. The goal is simple and brutal: keep warm, keep moving, and reach the legendary Fountain that might undo death itself. Along the way you scavenge, skirt danger, and face the Husks-those who have been stolen from life but still hunger for the living.

Fear the Cold

Time is a resource in Palefrost, because the cold is always taking. Your temperature drops under the blizzard's bite and you must create pockets of warmth: light fires, find sheltered rooms, and plan routes that give you opportunities to rest. These safe breaths let you press deeper into Aurburg, but each warm moment is fragile. Matches, fuel and sheltered spaces are finite, so staying warm becomes as tactical as any firefight.

Scavenge, Plan and Survive

Looting is not busywork here. Every item you pick up forces a choice: will this bullet, canned food, or spare clothing slot be the thing that keeps you and your family alive? Inventory space is limited and resources are scarce, so decisions matter. Use items right away or hoard them for a future emergency. The tension comes from not knowing which shortage will cripple you next.

A Fractured Town, Angry Husks and One Last Hope

Aurburg is broken into puzzling, fragmented spaces. The map and your sense of direction are tools as important as any weapon. The dead in this world are called Husks: dangerous, persistent and unnerving. Weapons can put them down temporarily, but the game hints that only a single, rarer solution can end them for good. Above all is the Fountain-a mythic objective you must reach if you plan to defy death. Your caravan of reasons for trying includes the lives of your family, making each route choice and combat encounter carry real emotional weight.

Palefrost promises tight, survival-focused design: temperature management, ruthless resource calculus, and a cityscape that punishes poor planning. If you like survival-horror that turns scarcity into drama, Aurburg's blizzard is waiting.
