Beards Go Underground: The Mining Deckbuilder

Beards Go Underground mixes roguelike deckbuilding with a mining strategy twist. Players draft a toolbox of pickaxes, minecarts, tamed beasts, and explosives to blast through rock, crush goblins, and claim gold and gemstones. The core pleasure comes from assembling explosive card combos that turn mountains into treasure chests.

The Beards themselves are a motley crew of money-hungry dwarves with proud facial hair and a shared goal, find glittering loot and track down their ex-leader, King Alberich, who ran off with the golden hoard. The tone leans into mythic roots, drawing loose inspiration from the saga Song of the Nibelungs, while keeping the action focused on tactical card play and satisfying destruction.

Blast Your Way to the Depths

Gameplay runs on a loop familiar to deckbuilder fans, but with a mining-first focus. Draft cards during runs to build a custom deck, then use those tools and explosives to carve a path through randomly generated mine maps. Successful runs lean on timing and synergies, not just raw power.

Combos can trigger earth-rattling chain reactions that obliterate terrain, flatten enemies, and reveal hidden troves. Those moments of perfect setup, when cards line up just right and everything detonates in sequence, are the design heart of Beards Go Underground. Expect tactical decisions about when to spend resources on clearing rock, when to push for riskier combos, and when to preserve tools for the next layer.

Cards, Relics and Dwarven Specialties

The game promises over 100 action cards to unlock across runs, plus relics that alter strategy and open new synergies. You will also choose from a roster of specialized dwarven miners, each offering distinct playstyles and approaches to the deckbuilding puzzle.

Mechanically, that means experimental decks can lean into minecart momentum, beast-assisted clearing, or full-on explosive annihilation. Random map generation keeps each descent fresh, and relics plus card unlocks encourage players to discover and exploit new combinations.

A Small Team Asking for Big Help

Beards Go Underground is being made by a six-person indie team giving everything to the project. The developers are looking for players to stress-test systems, break card synergies, flag biomes that feel unfair, and help balance the in-game economy. If you love the rush of setting up a perfect tactical chain, they want your feedback on Discord so the team can refine runs and polish the combination play.

Between hauling treasure and raising a glass at the Inn, the Beards promise a mix of loot-focused progression and dwarven personality. It's still in active development, and those early testers will shape how the final experience plays.

Beards Go Underground sounds like a solid fit for players who enjoy methodical deckbuilding with explosive outcomes, and for anyone who likes watching clever setups cascade into satisfying chaos.
