Kennel Chaos: Daycare Simulator Puts You on Scoop Duty

You and a handful of friends run a dog daycare. It sounds wholesome until someone props a gate open and eleven dogs discover the front door. Kennel Chaos is a first-person, hands-on co-op simulator about the hard, messy work nobody wants to do but everyone loves to watch go wrong. Feed them, wash them, walk them, scoop what they leave behind, and try not to invent new problems while doing it.

Dogs That Constantly Rewrite the Schedule

The star of the show is the dogs. There are 21 breeds, and each one has a trait that genuinely changes your day. Some examples from the game notes:

  • The Escape Artist will test every gate until you find the one you forgot to secure.
  • The Sneaky Pooper waits until your back is turned and chooses the perfect corner.
  • The Shaker times its bath exits with surgical precision to cover you in water.
  • Zoomies will barrel through obstacles, including teammates.
  • Rolls In It finds exactly the mess you were about to clean.
  • The Poop Eater solves one problem in the worst possible way.

These tendencies turn routine tasks into emergent chaos. You might plan who walks which dog, but traits and timing will force you to improvise.

Hands-On, No Menu Work That Rewards Bad Planning

There is no staff menu or spreadsheet doing the work for you. You carry one thing at a time - either a dog or a tool. Tools live on racks you bought and put somewhere. That somewhere becomes a strategic decision you will regret while jogging across the building with a wriggling beagle.

The mess system has real consequences. Fresh poop takes two seconds to scoop, but if you ignore it someone will step in it. Paw prints spread, and dried messes need scrubbing. Small problems compound quickly into what the developers call a Code Brown. It is a neat loop where poor allocation of attention creates larger, more expensive problems.

Build, Decorate, Then Find Out What You Forgot

You do not start with a finished daycare. Begin with an empty building and a small pile of money. Buy runs, tubs, grooming tables, food prep stations, and play equipment. Paint the walls, hang wallpaper, put a clock up, then open your doors and discover which choices were clever and which were hilariously terrible.

Each room is a set of tradeoffs. Do you spend on extra runs to reduce escapes, or on a bigger food prep to speed up feeding? The game rewards planning but delights in punishing overconfidence.

Pay the Bills and Repeat

Takeings come in, upkeep goes out, and stars fluctuate based on whether every dog received what its care card promised. Spend the money you have left, go to bed, and do it again tomorrow with more dogs. Kennel Chaos supports one to eight player online co-op, and the developers note it is significantly funnier with friends. The combination of player cooperation, breed traits, and the layered mess mechanics makes for a compact, frantic loop that promises both challenge and laughter.

Features at a glance

  • 1 to 8 player online co-op
  • 21 dog breeds with meaningful traits
  • Mess system with stages: fresh, stepped in, tracked, dried
  • Room-by-room building and decoration
  • First-person, hands-on gameplay with no automation
  • Dogs that are extremely good and extremely bad at the same time

Kennel Chaos looks like a love letter to cooperative chaos. If you enjoy games where small errors cascade into glorious failure, and you want to share that failure with friends, this one deserves a spot on your play-someday list.
