Deaduction: Six Players, One Night Shift
Deaduction drops you and up to five friends into a mysterious hotel where not everyone is there to help. Some staff keep the lights on, cook meals, and tend to guests. Others are hiding in plain sight, waiting to sabotage, possess, or swap bodies. It is part prop hunt, part social deduction, and all creeping tension.
Play runs like a single long night. Complete tasks to keep the hotel functioning and earn money to buy tools. Use evidence, surveillance, and blunt force when needed to expose the imposters before they wipe out the staff.
How the Night Works
As a staff member you have specific duties. Grow produce, prepare meals, deliver orders, assist guests, or maintain the building. Staying alive and keeping the hotel running both matter, because successful shifts reward cash you can spend on gadgets and weapons.
Spend earnings on items such as EMF readers, Holy Water sprayers, and antique pistols. These tools help you detect Spirits, protect innocents, and push back against the things stalking the halls. The Security Guard has a special role in investigating suspicious behaviour with searches, camera monitoring, and evidence collection.
When things go wrong gather at the meeting table. Present clues, interrogate suspects, and vote on who should be jailed. Accusations escalate, votes can mean execution, and every decision ripples through the rest of the night. Trust is a resource you cannot afford to waste.
The Haunted Lineup
The game splits players into clear but asymmetrical threats and tasks.
The Poltergeist: Possess objects around the hotel to turn the environment into a weapon. Drop chandeliers, launch vases, lock doors, sabotage tasks, and set traps. Poltergeists can also disguise themselves as props and stalk victims from the shadows.
The Doppelganger: Take on another staff member's appearance and learn their routines to earn trust. Commit crimes carefully, frame others, and avoid the Security Guard long enough to finish your plan. Every crime leaves evidence, so skillful framing matters.
Staff Roles: The Gardener, Chef, Bellboy, Receptionist, Caretaker, and Security Guard each have tasks that keep the hotel alive. Observe coworkers for odd behaviour, missing guests, broken equipment, or unexplained accidents that could point to something supernatural.
The Security Guard: Your investigative anchor. Search staff, monitor cameras, collect evidence, and piece together the truth. You may be the group's best chance to stop an impostor, if you can survive long enough.
The core loop is deception, detection, and escalation. Killers must hide their trail and manipulate evidence. Innocents must use tools and teamwork to expose the imposters before the night ends.
Why Deaduction Stands Out
Deaduction leans into the uncanny by blending prop hunt stealth with classic social deduction. The asymmetry of supernatural powers versus everyday hotel chores creates tension on both micro and macro levels. One minute you are folding linens, the next you are watching a vase float past a security camera.
With just six players the stakes feel personal. Small teams amplify suspicion, and every tool purchase can shift the balance between paranoia and decisive action. The result is a game of whispered accusations, sudden violence, and a slow burn of dread that fits neatly into a single night shift.
