Autonomica: Farm, Factory, Time Travel
Autonomica turns the familiar loop of survival automation into a retro-futuristic playground. Set in an alternate 1980s fractured by failed temporal experiments, the game asks you to rebuild civilization by chaining biology to chemistry and chemistry to machines. Grow crops and raise animals, process them into reagents and materials, then route those outputs into conveyor-fed factories that make the tools you need to survive and expand.
Play alone or with friends to build bases, automate entire supply chains, catch night Phantoms, and dive into unstable timelines to retrieve rare crops, animals, and technology. The premise is straightforward but layered: everything biological ultimately fuels industry, and everything industrial helps you reclaim a problem-riddled world.
Biology Feeds Industry
Autonomica places organic production at the start of every complex supply chain. You will grow crops, manage animal yields, and run extractors, mixers, and refiners to turn raw harvests into chemical reagents and synthetic materials. Those outputs are not cosmetic; they become the inputs for higher-tier engineering, power systems, and manufacturing.
The game emphasizes progression through conversion. A harvest can become food, fuel, or a high-value reagent depending on how you process it. Storage, conveyors, and automated transfer systems keep these flows moving so your factories can keep making ever more sophisticated parts.
Build the Machines That Build the World
On the other side of the factory floor, raw mining and salvage feed metalworks and assemblers. Autonomica asks you to mine ores, refine industrial inputs, and craft components for machines, vehicles, construction, and logistics. Processors and assemblers combine metals, minerals, salvage and compounds into usable parts that slot into automated production lines.
Minimalistic conveyor designs are meant to integrate with electric grids, dynamic water pipelines and solarpunk aesthetics. The result should feel both functional and pleasing to plan, whether you prefer tidy production cells or sprawling, mountain-carved hubs.
Engineer Your Future
Technology unlocks across multiple specialized stations. The Drafting Station automates construction, power, and mechanical systems. The Botanical Station advances crops, animals and enclosure tech. The Cooking Station transforms natural goods into higher-value foods. These workshops double as opportunity spaces and survival necessities.
Your workshop becomes a laboratory for creative problem solving. Want self-maintaining eco-farms? Build them. Need a mobile production line for a time-jump extraction? Design it. The stations encourage experimentation as much as they reward optimization.
Customize Your World
Construction in Autonomica is fully modular. You can piece together a cozy cottage, a sun-drenched greenhouse, or an industrial complex carved into cliffs. Interiors matter too. Place furniture, choose palettes, and unlock room bonuses that change stats, NPC reactions, and relationship outcomes.
Towns and NPCs react to your presence. Deliver resources, repair buildings, and watch communities revive as businesses reopen and public spaces improve. The world rebuilds around the practical and the personal.
Night Belongs to Phantoms
When daylight fades, Phantoms appear. These unstable entities were spawned by the time rifts that fractured the world, and they are both a threat and a resource. Track them through the dark, fight them with tools like the Hydro Blaster and Protovac, then capture their atomized forms in Nanotainers.
Phantom essence is a unique input for supercharging production and unlocking technologies that normal materials cannot provide. Nighttime is dangerous, but also essential if you want to access higher tiers of gear.
Travel to the Future
Time Capsules let you jump into unstable timelines with three distinct modes. Extraction Mode is a limited-time, exploration-focused run for rewards. PvE Mode pits you against tougher Phantoms and boss entities. PvP Mode adds player competition into the mix, turning extractions into contested survival arenas.
These time-jump extractions offer rare crops, animals, and blueprints unavailable in your base timeline. The risk is high and the rewards reflect that. Returning with unique materials can accelerate your automation and open new branches of technology.
Multiplayer, Modes and What to Expect
Autonomica supports co-op automation as well as PvEvP extraction runs. The sandbox includes farming and ranching with over 100 crop variations, a focus on minimal micromanagement for eco-farms, vehicles from hoverboards to mechs, and a synthwave-inflected 1980s aesthetic. Dynamic weather, seamless day-night cycles, NPC relationships and detailed construction round out the ambition.
The developers note there are many more features in progress, and the project leans into player creativity and experimentation. If you like building elegant production flows, defending bases from supernatural threats, and taking calculated risks into alternate futures, Autonomica looks positioned to blend cozy automation with high-stakes time travel.
