Catomino: A Cozy Puzzle Full of Squishy Personality

Catomino looks at classic grid-based puzzles and adds a very feline twist. Instead of static pieces, you place bouncy, jelly-like cats that flop, bounce, and vocalize as they settle. The core idea is simple: if it fits, it sits. Your job is to find the right spot for every picky cat while dealing with a living, messy house and a handful of playful hazards.

The game blends spatial polyomino challenges with environmental interaction. Rather than a tidy tabletop, levels are dioramas full of slippers, toys, and shifting obstacles. Clear the clutter, expand the comfy area, and coax each cat into its ideal napping position.

Push Clutter, Tame Hazards, Expand the Board

Catomino turns placement into a small choreography. Before you can tuck a cat into place you might need to push aside a slipper, slide a basket into reach, or move a towel to enlarge the playable area. Props are part of the puzzle: drag and drop cozy baskets, rugs, and beach towels next to the main grid to give larger kitties somewhere soft to land.

That domestic chaos also comes with surprises. Dynamic hazards like wandering robot vacuums and feisty crabs appear in certain dioramas. If a cat gets pinched or ends up on a wet spot it panics and bolts to a random square, forcing you to rethink the layout. Those moments turn neat placement puzzles into gentle, improvisational puzzles where the order and timing of moves matter.

Forty Plus Cats With Big, Individual Tastes

One of Catomino's attractions is how much personality each cat brings. The roster tops 40 distinct felines, each with its own quirks and preferences. Some will only sleep in sunny patches or on plush rugs. Others insist on being next to or away from certain neighbors. Pair bonded buddies, and avoid seating grumpy loners beside noisy types.

The cats' tactile, jelly physics are part of the charm. Drop and slide them and they wobble and bounce while offering expressive vocal cues. Those reactions give immediate feedback about fit and placement without any intrusive UI. It feels tactile and alive in a way many grid puzzlers do not.

Relaxed Puzzling With Optional Mastery

Catomino is built for leisure but rewards perfectionists. There are over 80 handcrafted diorama levels with no timers or Game Over screens. Solve puzzles at your own pace, or chase complete satisfaction by meeting every cat's whim for a 1-Star Perfection rating on a level.

For completionists there are unlocks. Nail five perfect 5-Star levels in a row and you earn bonus content to show off. Otherwise, the game encourages a low-stress loop: organize, listen to the ambient purrs, and enjoy the tiny victories of tidy, purring households.

Visuals and Tone

The aesthetic leans into cute and calm. Stylized cats, soft coloring, and chunky jelly physics make every placement feel rewarding. The diorama approach gives each level a distinct theme from cozy living rooms to sunny beaches, and the props help those environments play into the puzzles rather than just decorating them.

Catomino looks like a cozy option for players who enjoy spatial puzzles but want a gentler, personality-rich experience. It is less about speed and more about finding satisfying domestic order among a chorus of meows.
