Cardaire: Eternal Aces

Play as Mulligan and step into a world that literally runs on trading cards. Cardaire: Eternal Aces is a single-player collectible card RPG about cracking packs, hunting down powerful cards, and building the deck that will turn you into a Cardaire legend. You expand your collection by finding cards in the world or buying booster packs, then craft decks to face duelists and bosses on your journey.

Deckbuilding and duels

The core loop is straightforward and classic: gather cards, refine your deck, and take on increasingly dangerous opponents. The developer plans over 200 unique cards, which should give a lot of room for surprising combos and personalized strategies. An expanded deck editor is planned, including multiple deck slots and import/export support for deck lists, so you can tinker freely and carry your builds between play sessions.

Dueling is described as a central pillar, with an updated duel UI aimed at running smoother than a fresh card out of a pack. Expect difficult rivals and unique bosses that will force you to adapt your decks and try new approaches.

A world worth exploring

Cardaire promises a world that is "not too hard on the eyes," which suggests a relaxed, approachable aesthetic rather than eye-searing spectacle. Beyond battles, the game will include some light, relaxing fishing content for players who want a breather between duels and pack cracking. Exploration and discovery are baked into the design: part of the fun is finding cards through play rather than only buying them.

Built by a solo dev who loves TCGs

This project is the work of a solo developer who goes by aeiou. The pitch is personal: a childhood obsessed with trading card games, a love for video game adaptations of TCGs, and the joy of starting from nothing to build a deck that becomes an unstoppable force. That experience is exactly what the developer aims to recreate in Cardaire: Eternal Aces. Building this as a solo dev means the scope is careful and crafted, with an emphasis on the pleasures of collection, deck construction, and tactical dueling.

What it won't include

The developer is clear about some things Cardaire will not have:

  • No AI art
  • No NFTs
  • No microtransactions
  • A clown (probably. honestly I haven't checked.)

Cardaire: Eternal Aces looks like a love letter to trading card games wrapped in an RPG shell. If you like the loop of crack packs, assemble a deck, and prove it in duels, Mulligan's world might be worth a look as it continues development.
