The Woodman grows a whole game from a single tree

The Woodman is small in scope and big on charm. You start at the base of one enormous tree, pick up an axe and begin the simple, satisfying loop of chopping wood, hauling it to your shop and turning it into goods for passing customers. The objective is clear and oddly soothing. Chop your way through the whole tree.

The early game is hands on. Tap or click to chop, then carry fallen logs to the box by the shop. The shop converts those logs into items to sell. With each sale you unlock better tools and new facilities. Progress is incremental, but the pace is deliberate and calm.

Simple loop, meaningful upgrades

What feels like a basic grind quickly settles into a tidy progression. Investment choices matter. Buy improved tools to make chopping easier. Build facilities that expand what your shop can offer. Little by little the workload lightens and your camp grows.

There is a steady sense of growth rather than a sprint to an end. The core pleasures are functional and cozy. Carrying a log across a snowy clearing or watching the shop sell another batch of goods has a tiny, concrete reward.

Gnomes and a woodland workforce

Hire gnomes once the gnome house is built. These helpers can collect wood and carry it to construction sites while you keep chopping. They create a small procession of logs and take some of the repetitive tasks off your hands.

Facilities matter. There are 13 different buildings to construct and 9 types of goods your shop can sell. Each new structure and product adds choices and a touch of personality to the camp. The game keeps the complexity gentle while offering meaningful automation.

Take a break, catch a fish, or soak in bubbles

The Woodman encourages downtime. Sit on a stump to recover your energy. Catch fish and cook over the campfire. Wander through snowy woods. A full belly and a soak in the hot spring can trigger an unusual upgrade. If bubbles appear, you can pick one.

Weather changes give the scene variety. Clear skies, rain, snow and thunderstorms shift the mood and the visuals as you work through the tree. There is also an underground world to discover beneath the roots.
