Nine Winters lets you tend a home after the world ended

The world ended. The stove still works. Nine Winters is a cozy post-apocalyptic life sim about building a life in a ruined city and seeing nine winters through. You search 19 areas for supplies, repair an empty place, and use what you find to cook, warm up, and make a house feel like home. It is not about grand heroics. It is about keeping the kettle on, mending a quilt, and deciding whether to answer a distant radio call.

Explore the city yourself

Nine Winters gives you agency over every outing. Pick a destination from the citys 19 areas, choose how to approach exploration, pack tools and provisions, then head out on foot. Expeditions consume supplies and Energy. Bring back food, materials for repairs and furniture, or items that make winter travel easier.

Roads sometimes freeze over. You can spend supplies and Energy to clear a snowbound route or take a longer detour. Fill a thermos with hot water, tea, or coffee before you go, and pack practical gear like gloves, a flashlight, or a first aid kit. Winter trips also reward you with cold-weather accessories such as goggles and earmuffs, which help on harsher days.

Choose a place to call home

The game treats a shelter as a project. Rooftop rooms, bunkers, buses, subway stations, lighthouses, and even a ship can become yours. Each space has limits and unique surroundings. Move in, patch cracks, get the heat working, and choose wallpaper, flooring, and furniture.

Progress feels handcrafted. A mattress on the floor can become a worn single bed and later a warm double. A makeshift stove of stones and a tin can can be upgraded into a proper wood stove. Use collected materials to cook, mend clothing, tend small crops, and gradually turn an empty shell into a lived-in place. If a stray cat wanders in, you can feed it and let it stay.

Make a way through winter

Winter is not a wall that locks you indoors. It is a condition you plan for and push through. Manage your Energy and supplies, decide when to risk an outing, and weigh whether to clear a blocked road or find an alternate path. Meals and a filled thermos make journeys safer and more efficient. The systems encourage small strategic choices rather than fast-paced panic.

Modes and player options

Nine Winters offers several difficulty and playstyle options. Cozy mode plants more plentiful resources and milder weather for a gentler paced experience. Survival and Deep Freeze make supplies scarcer and cold snaps more frequent. Endless mode keeps the experience going after the ninth winter, while Wallpaper mode lets you decorate without resource costs. You can also turn on Auto Progress to watch seasons advance, or keep a finished home as a desktop widget.

After the ninth winter

Winter comes nine times. Each year grows colder and the city changes. New routes open as the environment shifts and broadcasts and old systems begin to fall silent. You can tune into distant transmissions, search for old records, or listen for calls on a handheld radio. These traces add texture and optional goals, but none of them are required to advance. The ninth winter arrives and the game continues afterward, leaving room for continued care and quiet discoveries.
