You rejoin a cast driven by loss and purpose. After the Great Chasm swallows his village, Tiz meets Agnès, a young vestal determined to restore the crystals. Together they set out across a fantasy world threaded with political intrigue, personal grief and classic JRPG beats. The narrative that made the original memorable is intact, presented with refreshed visuals and a few updated assets for this release.

Brave and Default - strategy at your fingertips
Combat stays true to the series' signature mechanic. The Brave and Default commands create decisions that matter: spend BP to Brave and chain actions into a single turn, or Default to defend and bank BP for later. That simple choice yields deep tactics, from high-risk multiattack bursts to careful recovery and support plays.
Over 20 jobs are available, giving you permutations of abilities and playstyles. Whether you prefer to overwhelm foes with offense, orchestrate heal-and-revive combos, or exploit status and support niches, the job system keeps combat engaging through party customization and experimentation.
Jobs, minigames and modern conveniences
Alongside the core systems, the remaster adds two new minigames and a selection of QoL updates. Expect a redesigned user interface, high-definition graphics, and the ability to fast forward event scenes to speed past familiar story beats. Networking features from the original have been retooled for modern networks, and note that certain graphics from the original version have been altered for this release.
These additions aim to respect the original design while smoothing rough edges for today's players.
