Warhammer Survivors brings two universes to the survivors formula
If you ever wanted to see the grimdark 41st Millennium and the Mortal Realms collide with the frantic, screen-filling chaos of a survivors game, Warhammer Survivors looks built to deliver. Developed by Auroch Digital in partnership with Warhammer and poncle, this pixel-forward roguelite drops iconic champions into arenas swamped by endless hordes from across both Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.
The pitch is simple and loud. Pick a champion, grab weapons plucked straight from the lore, mix in passives and power-ups, and evolve your armory into storms of bullets, blades and magic. Death is only another loop toward unlocking more characters, relics and options that stack the odds in your favor.
Fast and frantic survivors action
Warhammer Survivors leans hard into the survivors template: dodge, collect, upgrade, survive. Each run feels built around quick escalation. Swarms grow, your options widen, and your responsibility is to turn a handful of firearms and melee tools into something that clears screens with theatrical violence.
The game promises evolving weapons and combos that change how a run flows. Mix a Boltgun with power-ups to reshape its fire, or evolve a chainsword into a sweeping carnage engine. Those evolutions are where the game will likely find its satisfying moments: tiny choices early on that explode into ridiculous synergies later.
Champions, weapons and evolution
Choose from an expanding roster of recognizable faces and archetypes from both universes. The announced names include Malum Caedo, the Space Marine Sternguard Veteran familiar to players of Warhammer 40,000 Boltgun, and Neave Blacktalon, a Stormcast champion forged in lightning. Each character arrives with distinct starting stats and weaponry, so your favorite champion will play differently from run to run.
Weapon variety is a highlight on paper. Expect staples like the Boltgun and the Astartes Chainsword alongside Whirlwind Axes and playful easter eggs such as the humble pot of Citadel Nuln Oil paint. Combine weapons with passives and power-ups to evolve them into new, deadlier forms that specialize in screen control, single-target punishment, or weird, signature effects that feel Warhammer through and through.
Stages, hordes and secrets
Maps range from open, ashen plains of Aqshy to claustrophobic corridors inside an abandoned Space Hulk. Every stage hosts a different faction and their particular threats. You will face skittering Skaven and their warp-sick abominations, ravenous Tyranid swarms full of monstrous bioforms, and other legions drawn from both Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar.
Besides straight combat, the game teases esoteric secrets and collectables to hunt during runs. Those hidden hooks are important for roguelite loop design. They reward exploration and add reasons to replay the same levels once you know the basic enemy behaviours.
Progression and long-term play
Progression follows the familiar survivors path. Death is temporary and each loop chips away at the unlock list: new characters, weapons, passive bonuses and rare relics that change the arc of future runs. Multiple modes and additional stages are promised, and the developer notes there will be more reveals to come.
For fans of Vampire Survivors style pick-up-and-scale mayhem, Warhammer Survivors pairs that addictive loop with a heavy dose of lore and weapon fantasy. Auroch Digital and poncle's collaboration keeps the project close to both the tactical feel of Warhammer weaponry and the satisfying, escalating chaos of survivors gameplay. Load your bolter and keep an eye on further announcements as the roster and features expand.
