Combo Devils blends stylish platform fighting with co-op roguelite action

Combo Devils aims to be more than another entry in the platform-fighter canon. At its core it is a fighting game built for dexterous inputs and combo-heavy play, but layered on top is a cooperative PvE extraction roguelite mode that pushes the series in a fresh direction. The pitch is straightforward: accessibility for newcomers and a high execution ceiling for players who want to master tech and matchups.

Co-op Extraction Roguelite

Survive as long as you can with friends or solo while you explore levels that scale in difficulty. The extraction roguelite is described as PvE co-op content with platforming sections, mini-games, tough mobs and boss encounters. Players equip character traits, discover perks and find items that change runs, all helping to carve out different strategies for clearing stages and extracting.

The developers note this mode is a work-in-progress, so expect iteration on progression systems, perk balance and enemy design as playtests continue. The core idea - mixing platform fighter movement with roguelite pacing and cooperative extraction goals - is the standout concept here.

Fighting and Mechanics

Combo Devils reads like a love letter to technical platform fighters. If you enjoy movement tech and combo flow, much of this will feel familiar while still offering its own identity. The team lists a huge set of mechanics they support, including:

  • wavedashing, wavelanding, plat-boosting, moon walking, sticky walk
  • dash dance, fast fall, directional influence (DI), teetering
  • teching, grabs, shields, shield breaks, shield drop
  • wall jump in/out, wall sliding, ledge grabs, ledge dash, ledge hogging, ledge cancels
  • air dashes, air dash cancels, air dodge, super jump, tri-dashing
  • on-hit cancels, jab reset, gatling combos, target combos, special cancels
  • wiggle-out, reverse aerial rush (RAR), pivoting, ground/air clanking, parry
  • rekkas, B-Turn-Around, B-Reverse, wavebouncing, EX Specials
  • motion input supers, hold-back-to-block toggle, and more

They also explicitly call out what is not present: no crouch cancels, no L-Cancels, no Smash DI, no planking, and no grab pummeling. That clarity is useful for players coming from other scenes who want to know which legacy mechanics are included and which are omitted.

Online matches will be supported by rollback netcode to prioritize a smooth experience for competitive play. Familiar movement and heavy tech options should make the game approachable for players coming from other fast-moving platform fighters, while the depth supports long-term mastery.

Party Modes and Mini-Games

Combo Devils also leans into casual and chaotic content. Party modes include modifiers like Giant, Slowmo and Ice that can be combined for wild results. Mini-games are a clear priority too. The team highlights a "Soccer Mode" where the ball is a chicken, plus modes like Destroy the Statue, Target Test, Racing and more. Online leaderboards let players compare scores for these modes, giving extra bite for those who like competing outside ranked matches.

Competitive Focus, Netcode and Community

Why Combo Devils could matter
