Food in Tastebound is the core interaction model. Each ingredient carries distinct properties that do far more than heal. Combine and cook them and new effects appear that can change your state, modify how creatures behave, or trigger environmental reactions. That means recipes are tools for problem solving, not just consumables.
As you discover new ingredients, recipes and methods - from simple simmering to more advanced techniques - you unlock alternative solutions to the same challenge. Want to clear a corrupted grove without slaughtering its animals? Find the right flavor to calm them, or coax a rival species away. Prefer a more direct route? Craft a dish that grants temporary combat advantages. Cooking is woven into every system, not siloed off as a minigame.
