A Sacred Tree in Peril

An evil Geomancer has stolen the magic essence from your sacred Evertree and sealed it far beneath the earth. What follows is not a lone hero’s tale, but a communal effort. You are the steward of the land, guiding a growing band of tiny kin as they dig, mine, and blast their way downward in search of the lost essence.

Released in January 2026 and now available on Steam, Kin and Quarry blends incremental progression with active player input. It is about building momentum, pushing deeper each day, and slowly restoring something ancient and powerful.

Dig by Day, Seal by Night

Each run sends your kin into layered underground sections filled with blocks to mine and ores to uncover. Your current objective is clear: clear the layer, go deeper, gather essence.

But there is pressure. When night falls, the Geomancer closes the earth and seals your mine. That ticking clock adds tension to the otherwise steady rhythm of excavation. Every second counts as your units chip away at stone, search for artifacts, and push toward new depth records.

The loop is simple and satisfying. Dig. Upgrade. Repeat. Yet the looming reset at night keeps you engaged and focused on efficiency.

Recruit Miners, Diggers, Exploders and More

Your kin are not all the same. You can hire several types of helpers, each with their own role in the underground operation.

Fox Miners carve through blocks in varied directions. Mole Diggers focus their efforts downward in bursts. Ferret Exploders trade safety for power, detonating sections before respawning. There are even more specialized roles to unlock as your population grows.

Managing your units becomes a strategic layer of its own. You can only assign up to your current population limit, which increases through permits earned by discovering artifacts. Every four permits grant one additional maximum population slot, letting your underground workforce expand over time.

It is not just about hiring more hands. It is about choosing the right mix for the layer you are tackling.

Artifacts, Ores, and the Museum

Progress is fueled by discovery. The game features more than 20 ores to mine, each contributing to your effectiveness in the long term. On top of that, there are over 150 rare artifacts buried in the depths.

Artifacts are automatically donated to the Museum and reward you with permits that increase your population cap. In practical terms, that means more kin, more digging power, and deeper runs.

There is also a drill you can launch to accelerate your descent. Combined with clicking, swiping, and hovering to encourage and speed up your workers, you are never just watching numbers go up. You are actively nudging the operation forward.

An Incremental Core With a Hands On Touch

At its heart, Kin and Quarry is an incremental mining adventure. You are constantly improving output, expanding your workforce, and diving deeper into layered underground zones. Yet it avoids feeling passive.

You assist directly, guiding your kin with cursor inputs to expedite their mission. That hands on layer keeps the experience lively, even as the numbers scale higher and the depths grow more ambitious.

With its colorful pixel art, charming animal kin, and a clear central goal of restoring the sacred Evertree, this is a game about steady progress under pressure. The Geomancer may be watching, but each new day is another chance to push further than before.
